I calibrated Dirac Live within running as software on an M1 Mac mini as part of a very nice HiFi system with DynAudio Heritage Special speakers, Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC, Nord Acoustics Amplifier and other nice toys like a Linn LP12 turntable.
This was a very interesting calibration because the system already sounded very nice, the customer had spent a lot of time setting the system up, but there were parts of the sound he wasnt happy with. Its a very intimate sit close to the speakers situation and the system was towards one end of the room which was affecting the stereo imaging and bass of the system.
I set the system up, firstly to fix the main issue the customer was not happy with, he felt the vocals and mid range were too vague and far away sounding. I used Dirac and a custom approach to solidify the overall sound especially the vocals in the centre. I also used it to better balance the system left to right, tighten and improve the bass response and give the system more “air” by enhancing the high frequencies just a little bit in the right region.
This was a lot of little changes and some big that added up to a big difference in a lot of music, but more subtle in others.
