I calibrated Dirac Live within an Arcam AVR 550 AV Receiver powering a 5.1 home cinema system with all Monitor Audio Series speakers and a Mission subwoofer, a Phillips OLED TV and other toys.
The customer recently made some room decorative improvements and had just set the home cinema system back up, previously he had run Dirac before and was reasonably happy with the results are a lot of tinkering, this time he didn’t want any of that hassle, he wanted it all done for him to the highest standard possible.
I spent a good amount of time dialling the sound of the system in for stereo music making great use of the subwoofer, I took my time to get the subwoofer integrated and dialled in about perfection and this really elevated the sound of the system in terms of size, scale and saturation. I then spent a good amount of time fine tuning the systems sound for movies, the customer sits a long way away from the system so I made sure the centre channel speaker really popped and was easy to follow and enjoy listening to
Overall I set the system up to sound pretty epic but domestically balanced too, the customers wife was the final ear as they both spent time enjoying the system. I put her favourite music on and then some test movie scenes and she didn’t say a word, she was totally engrossed in all of it. I was really chuffed by that.
